Flat by Close

How it works

An automated, proprietary strategy trades the E-mini S&P 500 (ES) and E-mini Nasdaq-100 (NQ) with one fixed rule set. The rules weigh trend conditions, market internals and the day's trading activity, and decide each day whether to trade at all. You receive each action as it happens.

A trading day

At the open

The rules decide whether each market trades today. On some days one or both sit out.

Through the session

Entries as signals qualify, each with its own target and stop. Typically a handful of trades a day, many lasting only minutes.

By the close

Anything still open is closed before the bell. No positions are held overnight.

No trading on CPI, FOMC-decision or non-farm payroll days, or on market holidays.

Targets and stops

Every trade has a fixed target and stop, set at entry. The strategy typically risks more than it aims to make on each trade (up to about three to one) and relies on a high win rate. A losing trade costs more than a winning trade makes. That is the trade-off of this design, and it is why the win rate on its own tells you little.

  • Paid entries carry the exact stop and target as prices, so a copier can attach the bracket the moment the order fills.
  • Exit messages are for information. Your bracket closes the trade at its target or stop, and a scheduled flatten before the close covers anything still open.
  • Some trades add a second unit. The subscriber guide explains how adds are sent and how to handle them in your copier.

Automating on your side

If you want the signals executed automatically, you can run your own trade-copier software that reads a Telegram channel and places orders on your platform. One option is Trade Dispensary, whose Telegram source connects to NinjaTrader, Tradovate, MT5 and other platforms. You buy and run the copier yourself, choose your own size and set your own loss limits. We never see or touch your account.

Test on a demo account first, and again after any change to your setup.

Trade Dispensary is independent of Flat by Close. We may earn a commission if you buy through this link, at no extra cost to you. Past results are not a prediction of future results, and trading futures carries substantial risk of loss. You are solely responsible for how you use the signals, including complying with the rules of your broker, platform, or any funded or evaluation account provider, some of which prohibit copying third-party signals.

Size for the bad stretches

At one ES and one NQ, the real-time simulated record's deepest drawdown has been −$5,752.50 and its worst day −$3,740. Micro contracts (MES, MNQ) are one-tenth of that. Choose a size you could hold through a drawdown at least as deep as the worst one shown, because the next one can be deeper.

All trades are executed in a simulation account, not a live market.

These results are based on simulated or hypothetical performance results that have certain inherent limitations. Unlike the results shown in an actual performance record, these results do not represent actual trading. Also, because these trades have not actually been executed, these results may have under- or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated or hypothetical trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to these being shown.
